Interlachen is surrounded by lakes, Church Lake, Lake Grandin, Clearwater Lake, Grassy Lake, and dozens more within a few miles of town. That lake-rich landscape, combined with some of the most affordable buildable lots in North Florida, means there’s a constant flow of property owners clearing land, prepping homesites, installing septic systems, and improving parcels they’ve purchased. T.E.S. Rentals delivers the equipment for that work.

Delivering to Interlachen from Starke
Our Starke yard is about 35 minutes from Interlachen via SR-100 through Keystone Heights and south on SR-21 or SR-315. We deliver into Putnam County regularly, Interlachen, Melrose, and the surrounding lake communities are all within our standard service area. The route passes through Keystone Heights, so we often coordinate Interlachen deliveries with other jobs in the area.
Equipment for Interlachen lot and property work
The typical Interlachen project is different from what we see in Bradford or Baker County. The lots tend to be smaller, quarter-acre to two-acre parcels rather than multi-acre timber tracts, and the work is usually focused on getting a specific lot ready for a manufactured home, a site-built house, or a seasonal retreat. The equipment needs to be sized appropriately for that scale.
Mini excavators (1.7-ton, 3.5-ton, 5.0-ton) – The most commonly rented machine for Interlachen projects. Septic system installation is the number one application, rural Putnam County properties run on well and septic, and a mini excavator handles the tank and drain field excavation without tearing up an entire lot. Also used for drainage work, foundation prep, and utility trenching. The 1.7-ton is a strong fit for tighter Interlachen Lakes Estates lots where access between neighboring properties is limited.
Compact track loaders – Lot clearing, grading, brush removal, and material hauling. When a purchased lot has overgrown vegetation, small-diameter trees, and debris that needs to be cleared before construction, a compact track loader with a brush cutter attachment is the fastest path to a clean, buildable surface. Available with grapple and bucket attachments as well.
Stump grinders – Pine stumps left from clearing are the most common obstacle on Interlachen lots. Grinding them flush lets you build, place a manufactured home, or establish a yard without excavating and hauling root balls. On smaller lots where space is tight, grinding is far less disruptive than pulling stumps with an excavator.
Trenchers – Well line runs, septic connections, drainage channels, and irrigation installs. A trencher cuts a consistent, narrow trench that’s easier to backfill and less disruptive to the surrounding lot than bucket-digging.
Full-size excavators and bulldozers – Available for larger Interlachen-area projects on acreage parcels outside the subdivisions. Pond construction, clearing five-plus-acre wooded tracts, and major grading work on larger lots headed toward the Ocala National Forest boundary.
Why Interlachen keeps building
Interlachen Lakes Estates is one of the largest subdivisions in Putnam County, thousands of individual lots spread across dozens of numbered units, many of them still vacant and selling for under $15,000. That price point attracts first-time land buyers, retirees building modest homes, investors placing manufactured homes, and out-of-state buyers purchasing lots as future retreats.
You get a steady, year-round demand for the kind of work that turns a vacant wooded lot into a livable property.
Clearing a lot for a manufactured home – The most common scenario. A buyer purchases a quarter-acre to half-acre lot, and it needs trees and brush cleared, a pad graded, and septic and well installed before the home can be placed. A compact track loader clears the vegetation, and a mini excavator handles the septic excavation, often both rented in sequence over the course of a week.
Site prep for a new site-built home – Larger lots and lakefront parcels attract buyers building custom homes. The site prep is more involved, clearing, grading, establishing drainage, digging a foundation, and cutting a driveway. Equipment selection depends on the lot conditions and the scope of the build.
Lakefront property improvement – Properties on Church Lake, Lake Grandin, or any of the smaller lakes around Interlachen often need selective clearing, dock-area prep, drainage management near the shoreline, or access improvement. A mini excavator offers the precision needed for controlled work near the water.
Improving an older property – Some Interlachen properties have older manufactured homes, overgrown lots, or deteriorating infrastructure. Clearing debris, regrading a driveway, replacing a failed septic system, or removing old structures are common projects that benefit from the right combination of equipment.
Recreational property setup – The proximity to Ocala National Forest and the surrounding lakes draws buyers looking for fishing camps and weekend retreats. Getting a rural lot functional, cleared, graded, and with basic infrastructure, is a compact equipment project that we help customers plan regularly.
Working with T.E.S. Rentals
A lot of our Interlachen customers are first-time land developers, people who’ve purchased a lot and are figuring out how to get from raw land to a finished property. We spend extra time with these customers, walking through the sequence of work, recommending which equipment to start with, and making sure they’re comfortable operating the machine before we leave.
Call (904) 452-0888 or fill out the form below. Tell us about your lot, where it is, what it looks like now, and what you’re trying to accomplish. We’ll recommend equipment that fits the work and your budget, and respond the same business day.
