Melrose is a village that touches four counties, Alachua, Bradford, Clay, and Putnam, and sits along the shores of Lake Santa Fe. The properties here range from historic lakefront homes to 100-acre wooded tracts, and the projects are as varied as the land. T.E.S. Rentals delivers excavators, compact track loaders, dozers, stump grinders, and trenchers to Melrose and the surrounding lake region.

Serving the Melrose area from Starke
Our yard in Starke is about 25 minutes from central Melrose via SR-100 and SR-21. We deliver into all four of the counties that Melrose straddles, and we’re already familiar with the roads, access points, and property types throughout the area. Whether your parcel sits on the Clay County side near Keystone Heights or the Putnam County side toward Interlachen, we can reach it.
Equipment for Melrose property projects
Compact track loaders – Clearing brush, moving fill, grading driveways, and prepping homesites. The rubber tracks distribute weight across soft, sandy ground, important on Melrose lots where the soil drains well but doesn’t always provide firm footing for heavy equipment. We carry grapple, bucket, and brush cutter attachments.
Mini excavators – Available in three sizes: 1.7-ton for tight access work, 3.5-ton for general residential excavation, and 5.0-ton for jobs that need more reach and breakout force. Septic installs, drainage work, and dock-area preparation on lakefront lots are common applications around Melrose.
Full-size excavators – Pond construction on larger rural parcels, clearing mature hardwood stands, and deep excavation work. Some of the wooded tracts around Melrose have live oaks with root systems that a mini excavator simply won’t push through, full-size iron is the right tool for those situations.
Stump grinders – Melrose’s older properties are shaded by mature oaks, pines, and cypress. When trees come down, whether by choice or by storm, the stumps need to be dealt with. Grinding in place is the least disruptive option, especially on lakefront lots where soil disturbance near the water’s edge creates problems.
Bulldozers – For clearing and rough grading larger parcels. The wooded tracts on the outskirts of Melrose, particularly the larger Clay County and Putnam County parcels, are often heavy with timber and need a dozer to make initial progress before other equipment comes in.
Trenchers – Irrigation lines, well connections, and drainage trenches. Rural Melrose properties run on well and septic, and a trencher cuts a clean channel faster than any alternative.
The Melrose property landscape
Melrose attracts a specific kind of buyer, people who want space, water access, and a community with character. The village has a thriving arts scene, a historic district, and a rhythm that’s noticeably different from the suburbs. The properties reflect that.
Lakefront estates on Santa Fe and Geneva – These are often established homes on one to five acres with mature tree canopy. Projects here tend to be selective clearing, drainage improvement, dock access work, or removing damaged trees. The work requires precision and the right-sized machine, not a dozer that levels everything in its path.
Wooded acreage off SR-21 and SR-26 – Five, ten, twenty-acre tracts with mixed pine and hardwood. Buyers are building custom homes, establishing hobby farms, or creating private retreats. The typical project starts with clearing a building pad and cutting a driveway, then expands over time into fencing, outbuildings, and landscape work.
Historic properties needing renovation support – Some Melrose homes date to the late 1800s. Renovation and addition projects on these properties sometimes require excavation for new foundations, grading for additions, or tree removal to protect structures. A mini excavator fits most of this work without overwhelming the site.
Agricultural parcels – Hay fields, small-scale livestock operations, and timber tracts surround the village. Fence line maintenance, ditch clearing, pasture improvement, and access road grading are recurring rental needs.
How it works
You reach out with a description of your project, what you’re trying to do, where the property is, and when you’d like to start. We recommend equipment based on the job, not based on what happens to be sitting in the yard. If a smaller machine handles it, we’ll say so. If the work genuinely requires more capability, we’ll explain why.
Equipment is delivered fueled and inspected. We walk first-time operators through the controls at delivery. If anything comes up during your rental, you’re calling the owner, not a call center.
“First time renter of this type of equipment. Zeb was very helpful pointing out safety features on how to use the machine. Professional and courteous. Highly recommended.”
