Baker County is timber country. Forestry drives the agricultural economy, wholesale nurseries ship ornamental stock nationwide, and the landscape between Macclenny and the Osceola National Forest is defined by planted pine, sandy soil, and large acreage parcels. That’s the kind of ground that needs real equipment when it’s time to build, clear, or improve property.
T.E.S. Rentals delivers excavators, compact track loaders, dozers, stump grinders, and trenchers to Macclenny and throughout Baker County from our Starke yard.

Starke to Macclenny: about 30 minutes on SR-228
Our yard sits in Starke, a straight shot northwest to Macclenny on SR-228 through Raiford and the Union County line. We deliver into Baker County regularly and know the area’s road network well enough to get a flatbed with equipment to rural properties off the county roads without issue. If your site has limited access, a narrow limerock drive, a locked gate, or a long approach, let us know when you call so we can plan the delivery.
Equipment for Baker County land
Compact track loaders – The go-to machine for Baker County property work. Clearing brush, grading driveways and access roads, moving fill, prepping homesites, and cleaning up after storms. We carry grapple, bucket, and brush cutter attachments that let a single machine handle multiple phases of a project. Rubber tracks perform well on the sandy Baker County soil and won’t create ruts that wheeled equipment leaves behind.
Mini excavators (1.7-ton, 3.5-ton, 5.0-ton) – Septic installs and replacements on rural well-and-septic properties, drainage channel excavation, foundation digging, and utility trenching. The 3.5-ton handles most residential work around Macclenny, the 5.0-ton is the better choice when you’re hitting root systems from old pine or hardwood stands.
Full-size excavators – For serious digging: pond construction on rural acreage, clearing mature timber stands with deep root systems, and commercial site excavation. Baker County’s large tracts, ten, twenty, fifty acres and up, often need full-size iron to make meaningful progress.
Bulldozers – The first machine on a large clearing job. Pushing standing timber, rough grading multi-acre building pads, and moving bulk material. On former forestry land around Macclenny, a dozer clears the path for every other piece of equipment that follows.
Stump grinders – After a timber harvest or lot clearing job, the stumps left in the ground prevent you from grading, mowing, or using the land productively. Our stump grinders are commercial-capable units that process large-diameter pine and hardwood stumps quickly.
Trenchers – Water line runs to new structures, drainage trenching, and irrigation installs. The 48-inch walk-behind trencher cuts clean, consistent channels in Baker County sand.
Baker County is growing, and the equipment demand reflects it
Macclenny has historically been a quiet county seat of about 5,000 people. That’s changing. The I-10 corridor running through Baker County connects the area to Jacksonville in about 30 minutes, and that proximity has started attracting residential development. A 2,000-acre mixed-use development east of the city limits was in workshop stages as recently as early 2025, signaling the kind of growth that’s been building for years.
That growth means more land getting cleared for homesites, more infrastructure going in, and more property owners improving parcels that have been in timber or agriculture for decades.
Homesite clearing on purchased acreage – The most common reason people call us from Baker County. Buyers purchasing five, ten, or twenty-acre wooded parcels off the county roads need the timber cleared, stumps removed, a building pad graded, and a driveway cut before construction begins. That typically requires a compact track loader, a stump grinder, and sometimes a dozer or excavator depending on the timber size and lot conditions.
Post-harvest timber land conversion – Forestry is the backbone of Baker County’s agricultural economy. When a pine harvest is complete, converting the land to pasture, a homesite, or another use requires clearing slash and debris, grinding stumps, and grading. We supply the equipment for every phase of that transition.
St. Marys River corridor properties – Properties along the St. Marys River and its tributaries attract buyers looking for hunting retreats, fishing camps, and rural homesteads. Access to these properties can be challenging, narrow roads, limited cleared areas, and soft ground near the water. We work with customers to plan equipment selection and delivery logistics for river-corridor sites.
Equestrian and recreational properties – Shoals Park, just north of Macclenny, has over 1,600 acres of ATV and equestrian trails, and the surrounding area draws buyers interested in horse properties. Establishing paddocks, clearing riding areas, grading access paths, and building fence lines are all equipment-dependent projects.
Nursery and agricultural operations – Baker County’s wholesale nursery industry is significant. Grading, drainage management, and site prep for planting operations are recurring equipment needs.
What renting from us looks like
You call (904) 452-0888 and describe your project. We ask the right questions, lot size, terrain, access, tree cover, your experience operating equipment, and recommend what fits. We don’t push machines you don’t need. If a compact track loader handles it, that’s what we’ll suggest. If the job genuinely calls for a dozer, we’ll explain the reasoning so you can make an informed decision.
Equipment is delivered on flatbed, fueled and inspected. Every machine is serviced between rentals. If you’re new to operating, we walk through controls and safety points on-site before we leave.
One owner. Direct communication. No layers between you and the person who can actually make decisions about your rental.
“We recently rented a John Deere 50G excavator from T.E.S. Rentals, and the experience was excellent. The equipment was clean, well maintained, and ran exactly how it should. We will definitely continue renting from them when we are working in that area.”
