Damage Waiver Policy – T.E.S. Rentals

Customer-friendly overview of our loss damage waiver. This is not an insurance policy.

1) What is T.E.S. Rentals’ loss damage waiver?

Our Damage Waiver is an optional program that helps reduce the customer’s potential financial liability for certain equipment damage not caused by negligence or abuse. This is not an insurance policy.

2) How much does the Damage Waiver cost?

The fee is 16% of the rental amount, applied to the base rental rate(s) only.

3) How does the Damage Waiver work?

When purchased, the Damage Waiver reduces the customer’s financial responsibility for qualifying damage that occurs while the equipment is on rent. If the waiver is not purchased, the customer is fully responsible for damage in line with our Rental Terms & Conditions. Multiple repairs in a single rental period are aggregated to determine coverage.

4) What if I don’t want the Damage Waiver?

  • Provide a Certificate of Insurance that meets our full coverage requirements for the rental item; or
  • The General Manager may waive the fee at their discretion.

If the Damage Waiver is not paid, the customer accepts full financial responsibility for all damage (personally or via customer-owned insurance). Payment of the waiver on the rental invoice indicates understanding and acceptance of these terms.

5) What is not covered?

  • Total loss
  • Damage from negligence or abuse
  • Glass, tires, broken/damaged teeth or blades
  • Downtime rental fees during repair
  • Travel time during service calls

Customers must take reasonable measures to protect equipment from loss or damage. T.E.S. Rentals determines whether damage was due to negligence or abuse. If so, the waiver does not apply and the customer is fully responsible under our Rental Terms & Conditions.

6) How do I use my Damage Waiver?

  1. Contact T.E.S. Rentals within 24 hours of the occurrence to file a report.
  2. For theft or vandalism, file a police report and provide a copy to T.E.S. Rentals.
  3. If T.E.S. Rentals concludes the damage was not due to negligence or abuse, coverage applies according to the schedule below.

*Value based on T.E.S. Rentals’ approved market price. Protection applies to the first $10,000 or 25% of equipment value, whichever is less.

Examples

  1. $10,000 equipment value: Waiver applies to first $2,500 in repair costs. T.E.S. covers 100% of the first $625; the next $1,875 is split 50/50 ($937.50 each). Customer is 100% responsible for costs above $2,500.
  2. $50,000 equipment value: Waiver applies to first $10,000 in repair costs. T.E.S. covers 100% of the first $2,500; the next $7,500 is split 50/50 ($3,750 each). Customer is 100% responsible for costs above $10,000.
